studies

here are some older cast studies i thought i would put up. these studies acted the foundation of the learning track at the atelier and were really great tools for learning how to conceptualize form.

Just a quick update here with an oil sketch.

the oil sketch was a paper bag sitting under a window in the atelier. I tend to keep a lot of objects i'm interested in painting but not quite sure what to do with around my studio. the idea is that i'll keep seeing the objects several times a day and subconsciously they will always be in the back of my head. eventually that will lead me to think of something interesting almost out of nowhere. haha kind of silly but it has worked in the past... or at least i think it has. Maybe i'm a little crazy though :) I hope you enjoy.

The bottom photo is the more recent of the two. sorry about the clipping of the painting, i mess up the panoramic setting on my cell phone sometimes haha.

here's a quick painting i did a little while ago. kind of a fun one to do and it's my first still life on canvas, 15in. x 15in. hope you enjoy it.

i thought i would put up a few figure studies. The drawing is another long pose, graphite on paper. The painting is from another long pose session. oil on canvas. i'm not sure of the size but it was an interesting one to do. you can see the color study that was done for it below.
